Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)
With aging or after massive weight loss, many patients experience excess and laxity of upper arm skin along with other parts of their body. This could occur with or without resistant fat layers around the arm. Depending on your individual anatomy correction of this deformity requires a combination of liposuction and skin excision. Some patients fall on either extremes of this spectrum and only need surgery or liposuction. That would be determined during your consultation. The scar from the skin excision usually falls in the grove inside the arm where it is not visible with arms on the side or when walking. As in any body lift procedures, Dr. Hakimi will make sure that patient’s weight has been stable and there is plan for maintenance around the same weight. Any weight gain or loss could alter and lessen the aesthetic outcome.
After surgery you can expect usual bruising. Swelling in this surgery can last for few months which would require you to wear a compression garment.
